The suspect, 50, was reportedly arrested at the palace of the Alagbado of Agbado, Oba Adedayo Shyllum.
The fake colonel met his waterloo when he reportedly visited the traditional ruler on Monday to solicit for money to purchase a ram to perform Islamic rites for this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration but sensing foul play, Oba Shyllum alerted the police, who subsequently swooped in on the suspect.
Confirming the development, state police public relations officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the suspect hailed from Ifelodun local government area of Osun State.
“The suspect was arrested in the palace of Alagbado of Agbado His Royal Highness Oba Adedayo Shyllum on Monday October 14, at about 1400hrs when he claimed to be a colonel and the ADC to the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, President    Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and was soliciting for help to      buy ram for sallah.

He said he attended the military school in 1979 and was posted to Zuru Kebbi State as lance corporal; and that he attended the Nigeria Defence Academy in 1980 and passed out in 1985.
“The fake colonel said he worked with the Presidency in 1997 before he was dismissed in the year 1999 as a Wing Commander,” the police spokesperson said.
Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), stated that soon as investigations are concluded, the suspect would be charged to court.
